Dublin Group Movements: Airport, Hotel, Venue

Dublin group work is usually a chain of short legs: airport to hotel, hotel to venue, venue to dinner and back. We book each leg with a licensed, insured operator, and the schedule depends less on distance than on where a vehicle is allowed to load.

Meeting flights at Dublin Airport

Private-hire coaches may collect passengers only at the Zone 16 coach park. The kerbside bus stops outside the terminals are held by tendered scheduled services, so a meet-and-greet at arrivals has to include the walk across to Zone 16. For departures it is simpler: any coach can set down on the T2 Departures Road Inner, directly outside Terminal 2 check-in.

Plan on 20 to 45 minutes between the airport and the centre. When arrivals are spread across a morning, the airport permits layovers of up to three hours at its Express Red Coach Layover facility, so ask whether one vehicle can hold there and cover two waves.

Cross-city runs and the bus gates

The Bachelors Walk and Aston Quay bus gates close the central quays to through traffic from 07:00 to 19:00 daily, and the College Green gate applies at all hours. A hotel near St Stephen's Green and the Convention Centre Dublin at Spencer Dock are close on a map, but the route is set by those gates, so give real doors-open times rather than guessing a short hop.

Groups board and alight at signed city coach stops such as Nassau Street. The council's coach bays, capped at two hours and paid through Parking Tag, are for parking only; nobody gets on or off there.

Cruise ports

Holding a vehicle through a long event

For a full conference day at the CCD or a late finish at the 3Arena, the NTA-run Docklands Coach Park gives 50 off-street bays, entered via Park Lane off North Wall Quay. Tell us whether everyone leaves together or in batches; that decides whether one vehicle waits or two are booked.

Tolls and the Port Tunnel

The M50 stretch from Junction 6 (Blanchardstown) to Junction 7 (Lucan) has no booths; untagged vehicles pay online by 8pm the day after. The Dublin Port Tunnel costs nothing for coaches seating more than 25.

Questions

Can the coach wait for our delegates outside Terminal 1?

No. Collection is from the Zone 16 coach park, and coaches may not park in set-down areas. Build the walk into your arrival briefing.

What should a Dublin transfer request include?

Headcount and luggage, flight numbers with terminal, hotel names, each venue with its start and finish time, and return flights. If an excursion to Brú na Bóinne is planned, note it: groups of 15 to 30 pre-book a time slot and reach the monuments only by the visitor-centre shuttle.

Our cruise guests land at Dún Laoghaire. Where is the pickup?

Ships anchor in Dublin Bay and passengers come ashore by tender. Coaches wait in a harbour compound next to the tender pontoon, so the pickup is a short walk from the landing.

Can we book a car for a speaker rather than a coach?

Yes. For up to eight passengers the vehicle is an NTA-licensed hackney or limousine, pre-booked with the fare agreed in advance.
