Drogheda Group Movements: Airport, M1 and Boyne Valley
Drogheda is about 40 km up the M1 from Dublin Airport, roughly 30-35 minutes by road. That short connection makes it a practical base for delegates, incentive groups and tour parties who want an easy airport leg and a heritage programme close by.
Flights in and out
Arriving groups board at the Zone 16 coach park, the only place Dublin Airport lets private-hire coaches collect. Parties of up to seven can travel by executive car or van instead; these must be NTA-licensed hackneys or limousines, pre-booked with the fare agreed in advance.
Outbound, coaches may set down on the Terminal 2 Departures Road Inner. A half-hour motorway run tempts people to cut it fine. Keep a margin for traffic on the approach to the airport, especially for early departures with a full coach to unload.

Budget for the M1 toll
The M1 between Gormanston and Monasterboice, the stretch around Drogheda, is tolled. Every airport run crosses it, and so do most trips north to Carlingford, about 45 minutes away. Check whether the quote includes tolls before you approve it.

Brú na Bóinne sets the timetable
Nobody drives to Newgrange or Knowth: visits run by shuttle from the Brú na Bóinne Visitor Centre, where coaches park. A party of 15-30 needs a pre-booked group time slot. Secure the slot, then send it with the booking: the visitor centre is about 15 minutes from town, and the coach timings are built backwards from it.
The 1690 battlefield at Oldbridge (about 10 minutes), Monasterboice (about 15) and Slane (about 20) sit close together, so a morning slot can be followed by one or two short stops without much extra road time.
Town pickups and venues
Hotels are in the town centre and out in the Boyne Valley towards Slane. For a collection round across both, send all the addresses, and set-down and staging points are confirmed by the operator hotel by hotel. Groups visiting the shrine of St Oliver Plunkett at St Peter's Church on West Street, or travelling to a Drogheda United fixture at Weavers Park, should give arrival and finish times so the return leg is fixed with the outbound one.
Questions
How long is the transfer from Dublin Airport to Drogheda?
About 30-35 minutes for the roughly 40 km on the M1, plus the time it takes the group to clear arrivals and reach Zone 16.
Does our vehicle go all the way to Newgrange?
No. It stops at the visitor centre, and your group continues on the site shuttle. Book the group time slot before you fix pickup times.
Our delegates land on several different flights. How is that handled?
Send the full flight list. The operator can hold one coach for a cluster of landings or split the group across smaller vehicles if arrivals are spread out. Ask for each run to be shown on the quote.
