Killarney Arrivals, Events and Excursions

Farranfore, home of Kerry Airport, lies roughly 13 km north of Killarney, a 15 to 20 minute drive and a short first leg for any group. Most Killarney programmes then mix a conference or event with at least one day out.

Kerry Airport or Cork

At Kerry Airport, coach services load at the bus terminus right outside the terminal building, so the group walks straight out to the vehicle. Cork Airport, about 90 km away and around 1.5 hours, is the fallback when Kerry flights do not fit; weigh the longer transfer against the flight choice. Shannon is a third option. Kerry GAA championship football at Fitzgerald Stadium brings crowds into town, so keep transfers off match times where you can.

Events at the INEC Arena

The Gleneagle INEC Arena is about 1 km from the town centre on the Kenmare road and seats 2,000, or about 4,100 standing. For a conference with delegates spread across hotels from Muckross Road to Park Road, East Avenue and the Lakes and Fossa area, a circular pickup timed back from the opening session usually beats separate runs.

Bus laybys on East Avenue are set-down points, nothing more, and Kerry County Council keeps watch on town-centre bus parking. The vehicle drops and moves on; it does not wait at the kerb.

Excursion days

Allow a whole day, stops included, for the Ring of Kerry: the complete loop runs to roughly 180 km. Dingle is about 1.25 hours away and Kenmare about 45 minutes. For the Gap of Dunloe, the vehicle leaves the group at Kate Kearney's Cottage, about 15 minutes out; from there the pass is walked, cycled or taken by jaunting car, so arrange the collection point before setting off.

Do we need to reserve Muckross House for a group?

Yes, every group has to reserve ahead. Coach parking is kept apart from the car park and is free.

Can the vehicle hold outside the INEC Arena for the evening?

Send the finish time and the operator will plan where the vehicle waits and when it returns. Town-centre bus spaces are monitored, so it will not simply stay parked in the centre.
