Dublin Airport transfers, planned around the flight list
Most Dublin Airport jobs start with a spreadsheet of flight numbers, not one arrival time. We match each wave of passengers to a vehicle from a licensed, insured partner operator and fix where it loads before anyone lands.
Where each vehicle type loads
Zone 16, the coach park, is the one place a private-hire coach or minibus may collect. Kerbside stops in Zones 1, 2, 10 to 15, 20 and 21 are allocated by tender to scheduled routes, so a private pickup cannot use them, even briefly. The arrival note you send travellers should say 'Zone 16', not 'outside arrivals'.
Executive cars and vans, carrying up to three and up to seven passengers respectively, run instead as NTA-licensed hackneys or limousines, booked ahead at an agreed fare, and the driver can meet a named guest at arrivals. That makes a car the usual answer for a speaker or senior guest landing apart from the main party.

Staggered arrivals and the layover window
Delegates flying in from several cities rarely land together. The Express Red Coach Layover facility lets a coach lay over for up to three hours, so one vehicle can often absorb two or three flights before heading for the city. When the gap is longer, a second vehicle or a later run is usually cleaner.
No coach may park in a set-down area, and a parked coach must have its engine switched off. The operator follows your flight numbers and moves the collection to the actual landing, but slow baggage still costs minutes; build that into the hotel check-in slot.
Transfer to the city
- about 10-12 km by road, 20-45 min
Terminals
- Terminal 2
- Terminal 1
Departures go to Terminal 2
Set-down for any coach is the T2 Departures Road Inner, which runs right past the Terminal 2 check-in hall. Anyone booked out of Terminal 1 walks over from that point, so add a few minutes for them in the hotel pickup time.
Timing the road leg
Between the airport and the city centre it is about 10 to 12 km, taking 20 to 45 minutes. The spread comes from traffic rather than distance: a mid-morning arrival and a weekday evening departure can sit at opposite ends of it.
Questions
What should we send for a Dublin Airport transfer?
A passenger list split by flight, with flight numbers, terminals and scheduled times; bag counts, including golf bags or equipment cases; each drop-off address; and the return flights. The quote then states the vehicle, the pickup point and the timing of every leg.
Can the coach wait at the kerb outside Terminal 1?
No. Private-hire coaches pick up at Zone 16, and set-down areas are not for parking. If the group is met in the arrivals hall, that meet includes the walk out to Zone 16.
What if a flight is badly delayed?
The operator revises the collection time as the flight moves. If a delay runs past the three-hour layover limit or into the driver's permitted hours, a different vehicle or driver may be needed, and we tell you what changes.
How early should a departing group leave the hotel?
Work back from the airline's check-in cut-off: the top of the 20 to 45 minute range at a weekday peak, plus loading at the hotel door, plus the walk to Terminal 1 where it applies.
