Moving Cruise Groups from Quayside to Coach

Confirm the berth before the pickup

The Port of Cork has more than one berth. Most calls tie up at Cobh, where passengers step ashore beside the Cobh Heritage Centre, but larger ships can go to Ringaskiddy on the far side of the harbour. The coach has to be on the right side, so send the berth as soon as it is known. Cork city is about 18 km inland from Cobh, and Cork Airport about 30 minutes by road for turnaround passengers.

Regulations that apply

• At Dún Laoghaire, ships anchor in the bay and tenders land at St Michael's Pier, beside a coach compound

Tender time counts at Dún Laoghaire

Ships anchor in Dublin Bay and passengers come ashore by tender, so the group reaches the pier in batches. Coaches wait in a compound beside the pontoon. Time the first departure from the tender schedule, not from the anchoring time.

Dublin Port and the city

The berths are about 4 km from the city centre and about 10 km from Dublin Airport. Coaches with more than 25 seats use the Dublin Port Tunnel toll-free, and Merrion Square South has a set-down and pickup point for cruise shuttles. Work backwards from all-aboard with a clear margin.

Questions

What does the operator need for a cruise call?

Ship name, date, berth or anchorage, disembarkation and all-aboard times, passenger count and each stop ashore.

Can embarkation and disembarkation days be booked too?

Yes. Airport or hotel to ship at the start, and ship to airport at the end, are quoted as separate legs.

Is a guide part of the booking?

The booking covers vehicle and driver. Guides and admissions are separate unless the quote lists them.
