Waterford is a road-transfer city: the nearest large airports are Cork and Dublin, each well over an hour away. Once the group is in town, the main visits are grouped around The Mall.

Getting the group to Waterford

From Cork Airport it is roughly 125 km (1.5 hours); from Dublin Airport, roughly 170 km (2 hours). Choose by flight times rather than distance alone, since the difference is only half an hour. For a group landing on several flights, one airport keeps every pickup in a single place. If the route uses the N25 Waterford City Bypass, its River Suir bridge is tolled.

Hotels are in the city centre around The Quay and the Viking Triangle, or on the coast at Tramore and Dunmore East, about 20 and 25 minutes out. A coastal hotel adds a short leg to every evening in town, so factor that into dinner timings.

Set-down and parking in the centre

For Waterford Treasures, coaches set down on The Mall, in front of the Bishop's Palace. Reginald's Tower and the Medieval Museum are a few minutes' walk from there, and groups are advised to book. The House of Waterford Crystal and the Theatre Royal are also on The Mall, which makes it a natural hub for a programme.

While the group is inside, the vehicle can use the free coach parking at Bolton Street car park, where coach cleaning is also available.

Greenway and coast days

The Waterford Greenway follows an old railway to Dungarvan, a 45-minute drive from the city. For a team-building ride, the vehicle drops the group at one end and meets them at the other, so send the start time and a realistic finish. The Copper Coast geopark lies west of Tramore, and Kilkenny is about 50 minutes north.
