Wedding Day Logistics, Ceremony to Last Shuttle
Wedding transport is two jobs on one timetable: a car for the couple and shuttles moving guests between hotels, ceremony and reception. We quote both together so the timings line up.
Cars for the couple and the bridal party
A limousine or hackney is an NTA-licensed private hire vehicle. It is booked ahead at a fare settled beforehand, and it carries no more than 8 passengers. For the couple, book an executive saloon; a 6- or 7-seat people carrier takes the bridal party. Belts must be worn wherever fitted, so check that every seat is usable in wedding clothes.

Regulations that apply
- Drivers' daily rest is at least 11 h, reducible to 9 h up to three times between weekly rests
Moving the guests
Groups larger than 8 travel by bus or coach under an operator licence: a minibus, a midi coach or a full-size coach. Give the operator guest numbers at each hotel, the ceremony and reception addresses, and the gaps between them. One midi coach of 29 to 35 seats doing two runs can replace two vehicles if the time before the ceremony allows.
Country-house venues often sit at the end of narrow lanes. A midi coach, about 10.5 m on a Setra S 511 HD, is shorter than any full-size coach and handles those approaches more easily. Send the venue's access notes with the request.
The last shuttle and next morning
A driver needs at least 11 hours of daily rest, which may drop to 9 hours on no more than three occasions between weekly rests. A driver finishing the last shuttle at 01:00 cannot then start at 08:00; even the reduced rest runs to 10:00. If guests fly out the next day, book the airport run as its own movement and let the operator assign the driver.
Questions
Can the bridesmaids travel in the couple's car?
Only if they fit: the executive saloon takes up to three passengers and a people carrier up to seven. A larger party needs a minibus run under an operator licence.
What do we send for a wedding quote?
The date, ceremony and reception addresses, guest hotels with numbers at each, the running order, and when the last shuttle should leave.
Can the late-shuttle driver do the airport run next morning?
Often not, because of daily rest. The quote should show which driver covers each leg.
