Timing Group Moves Around Major Irish Events
On a big event day the question is less the route than where the vehicle may stop. Select an event for its organisers' notes, then plan the drop-off, the wait and the return.
Know the set-down before you promise one
At the 2026 finals, the Garda traffic plan left coaches with nowhere near Croke Park to set down, collect or park; they used the NTA Docklands Coach Park instead. Brief the group on the walk before match day. In Galway, 2026 race shuttles left from Eyre Square, and the racecourse sits just off the M6.
The 2027 calendar
Dublin: St Patrick's Festival from 13 to 17 March, parade day Wednesday 17 March. Ballybrit: Galway Races Summer Festival from 26 July to 1 August, Galway Plate on Wednesday 28 July. The Ploughing Championships are at Rathangan, Co. Kildare, on 21 to 23 September, a week later than usual. All-Ireland final dates are not yet out; expect July, hurling first.
Plan the return first
Leaving an event is slower than arriving. Agree a pickup time and point with the group, and remember that a long round trip may need a second driver.
Questions
Does the vehicle stay at the venue?
Rarely. It parks where the rules allow and returns at the agreed pickup time.
Can you supply event tickets?
No, only the transport.
Will the Ploughing traffic plan affect us?
Yes. The National Ploughing Association publishes a traffic management plan and shuttle timetable before each event, and the operator plans access from it.
