Limerick and Shannon: Group Connections

Shannon Airport is about 25 minutes from Limerick along the N18, which makes the city an easy base for transatlantic groups. We arrange the transfers through licensed, insured operators and plan each one around the airport's coach rules.

Shannon arrivals and departures

Minibuses and coaches may not park outside the Shannon terminal at any time. They wait in one of the airport's two coach parks. On-hire minibuses and limousines share Coach Park 2, by departures. Your arrivals walk to the vehicle, so brief them on where to go before they land.

Groups bound for the United States go through US Preclearance at Shannon, completing immigration and customs before boarding. Tell us the flight so the drop-off is set with that step in mind rather than working back from take-off alone.

Hotels, campus and match nights

Groups stay in the riverside city centre, along the Ennis Road, in Castletroy beside the University of Limerick, or out at Adare and Bunratty. The University Concert Hall is on the UL campus, so Castletroy suits a conference there. Thomond Park, home of Munster Rugby with about 25,600 capacity, and the TUS Gaelic Grounds on the Ennis Road both fill the surrounding streets; share kick-off and finish times and the operator will choose a collection point clear of the crowd.

Tolls on the way in

The Limerick Tunnel under the Shannon, on the N18 Southern Ring Road, is tolled, as is the M7/M8 Portlaoise to Castletown point for groups coming from Dublin.

Questions

Can we fit Bunratty in before a flight home?

Usually. Bunratty Castle and Folk Park is off the N18 about 10 minutes from Shannon Airport, and visitor parking is free. Put the visit early in the day and leave a clear margin for check-in.

How far are Adare and the Rock of Cashel?

Adare is about 25 minutes south-west of the city; the Rock of Cashel takes roughly an hour. Both fit a half-day before an evening event.

Is Limerick a sensible base for the Cliffs of Moher?

Yes, at about 1.25 hours each way. Coach groups and groups of 10 or more must book the site in advance, so send your slot with the request.

What should we send for a Shannon and Limerick quote?
