Day Tours Planned on Slots and Drive Times
A group day tour is a timetable with fixed points: timed entry slots, the driver's break and the hour the group must be back at the hotel. Vehicle and route follow from those.
What fits in one day
The daily driving limit is 9 hours, raised to 10 on no more than two days a week, and the driver must stop for 45 minutes once 4.5 hours have been driven; that stop can be split as 15 then 30. Plan the lunch stop as the break. The full Ring of Kerry loop from Killarney is about 180 km and fills a day with stops; treat it as the whole plan, not the morning.
Shorter programmes leave room for a second site. Ennis is well placed for this: Poulnabrone in the Burren and the Cliffs of Moher are each less than an hour's drive.

Regulations that apply
- Buses and coaches pay the M50 barrier-free toll between junctions 6 and 7; there is no cash booth
Sites that need a slot
Several major sites control group arrivals. At the Cliffs of Moher, coach arrivals and every group of 10 or more must book, and coaches have a dedicated park entrance. Brú na Bóinne is reached only by shuttle from its visitor centre, with group slots for 15 to 30. Muckross House asks all groups to reserve. Glenveagh Castle is reached on the park's own shuttle, with groups leaving their vehicle at the visitor centre car park. Send slot times with the request; departure times are planned backwards from them.
Leaving Dublin
Buses and coaches pay the barrier-free M50 toll between Junctions 6 and 7, with no cash option; unless the vehicle has an account or tag, payment is due by 20:00 the next day. Glendalough is about an hour from the city and Brú na Bóinne 45 to 60 minutes. The Giant's Causeway, over the border in Northern Ireland, is roughly a 3.5-hour drive out and the same back, leaving limited time on site within the daily cap.
Questions
Do passengers wear belts on a tour coach?
Yes. Where belts are fitted, everyone aged 3 or over must use them, on short hops between sites too.
Can one day cover the Cliffs of Moher and the Burren from Ennis?
Yes. Both are within an hour of the town. Book the cliffs in advance for any group of 10 or more.
What does a day tour quote state?
Pickup and return times, the route and stops, the vehicle and seat count, and whether tolls and parking are included.
