Greenway Coach Ireland

The 49 to 81 Seat Coach for Transfers and Events

A full-size coach moves a whole flight's worth of delegates, a tour group or a supporters' club in one vehicle. It is the default for large airport transfers and event shuttles, with firm limits on where it may stop.

Load planning

Expect 49 to 81 seats, about 80 of them on a double-decker, on a two- or three-axle vehicle of roughly 12 to 14 m. Underfloor bays hold about 12 m3 on a 13 m Tourismo. For a transfer, luggage often decides the plan before seats do: give the number of large cases and list long items such as golf bags or equipment cases. For 120 delegates, two double-deckers or three single-deck coaches are needed unless the timings let one vehicle make a second run.

Sample models

Typical models in this class, as run by the licensed, insured operators we book. The operator confirming your schedule decides the exact vehicle.

Requirements the coach must meet

The coach has to be hired out under a Road Passenger Transport Operator Licence and pass an annual CVRT roadworthiness test. It carries a tachograph, and driving and rest follow Regulation (EC) 561/2006. The driver needs a category D licence. Passengers aged 3 or over wear seat belts where fitted. The quote should name the operator's licence and the vehicle class supplied.

Stops and routes that work

Dublin Airport splits arrivals from departures for coaches. Hired coaches pick groups up in the Zone 16 coach park only, while dropping off is allowed on the inner departures road by Terminal 2 check-in. Set-down areas are not for parking, and engines are switched off whenever the coach is parked.

In the city centre, bus gates on two stretches of the quays (07:00 to 19:00) and at College Green (all day) close through routes, so quayside hotel pickups need a planned approach. The Dublin Port Tunnel is toll-free for buses seating more than 25. On narrow rural roads and tight town centres, a midi coach is often the better choice.
