Cork Harbour cruise calls: berth first, then the transfer

Port of Cork cruise calls use three different berths, and the transfer plan depends on which one your ship gets. We book the vehicle through a licensed, insured operator once the berth, the times ashore and the onward flights are known.

Confirm the berth before anything else

The Cobh Cruise Terminal is a dedicated 350 m berth, and passengers come off right next to the Cobh Heritage Centre. Larger ships, up to 360 m, may go to Ringaskiddy Deepwater Quay on the other side of the harbour. Smaller ships, up to 152 m, can come right up to the Cork City Quays.

Each berth means a different pickup and a different drive, so get the berth from the line or the shore agent and put it on the request.

Timings from Cobh

Cork Airport is about 25 km from Cobh, around 30 minutes by road. Cork city lies about 18 km inland, 25 to 30 minutes' drive. For a turnaround with same-day flights, allow for disembarkation, the drive and the airline's check-in, then see which flights fit.

Rail as the fallback

Cobh's railway station faces the cruise berth. Cork Kent is about 25 minutes by train, and more services run when a large ship is in, so a passenger who misses the group vehicle still has a way into the city. At Ringaskiddy the port's advice is a bus or taxi to Carrigaloe station and the train from there, or the Passage West cross-river ferry.

Our ship is at Ringaskiddy. What changes?

The pickup moves across the harbour from Cobh, and the train is no longer opposite the ship. The operator plans the collection at the quay you are given.

How long from Cobh to Cork Airport?

About 30 minutes for the 25 km. Add time for disembarkation and luggage before the vehicle can leave.

What should the request include?

Ship name and date, berth, time ashore and all-aboard, headcount, luggage and, for turnarounds, each passenger's flight.
